Our objective in this class as students and as designers was to develop a greater understanding of the visual interfaces and information design. Originally, the class required us to divide into teams of two, pursuing a variety of challenges presented by Gulfsteam a quarter earlier (see requirements list below). Given sheer volume of work needed to seriously pursue each design problem, we made a strategic move as a team. Rather than pursue separate ideas that couldn’t possibly be developed in two-and-a-half months, we unified our efforts to focus on a single design with the full intent of producing something viable.
Ultimately the challenge set forth for by Gulfstream was to design a device and a user interface for passengers traveling on one of their private jets. The goals we had in mind were clear...
- Convey Safety, Comfort, State-of-the-Art, and Tradition.
- Give the user a sensation of an empowered and enlightened individual.
- Develop and improve upon the design of a maneuverable hand held interface.
- Overcome the pain points of the existing fixed interface.
- Improve ergonomics, functionality, and accessibility.
- Develop new ideas using state of the art technologies for the plane of the future.
